Removable Dentures
When several teeth are missing, a partial or full denture can be a solution. These dentures will restore your teeth’s function and aesthetics, and can even be supported by implants, if necessary. Acrylic dentures artificially replace your natural teeth and gums.
There are two types of acrylic dentures:
Full denture
A removable acrylic denture is an option when a patient has lost all his teeth on a jaw (upper or lower) or a significant deterioration of the teeth requires the extraction of all teeth
Partial denture
A removable partial acrylic denture is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Often referred to as a "partial", these devices help with chewing, speech, and, of course, aesthetics. A partial consists of an acrylic resin base, with or without metal, which is supported by the gums and is anchored to the remaining teeth, using hooks.
Procedure for the installation of a removable dentures
- Taking impressions and specific face shape measurements
- Making a rough wax set to ensure that the teeth’s shape and colour match the mouth
- Making a final version (acrylic)
- Insertion of the denture
A full acrylic denture can also be installed on implants.
